Free and affordable film screenings

If you love the movies, then this article is for you. Film screenings at churches, museums or universities are both definitely worth checking out. I will be focusing on unique film screenings and free or affordable this time around.

January 25 and 26

This FREE event is a collaboration between University Christian Church, Broadway Baptist Church and TCU Extended Education and takes place every January on Friday evening and all day Saturday. All film screenings are of religious, cultural or philosophical significance. The line-up includes such films as RBG, Won’t You Be My Neighbor, John Q, Goodbye Christopher Robin and many more. There are a total of 23 films. Make sure you do pre-register, this event is very well attended.

In the absence of a film center in Fort Worth, The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth fills this need. Did you know that they host critically acclaimed films every weekend all year log? Make sure you bookmark their page or follow them on Facebook for an updated list of films each month. The screenings on schedule for the rest of this month are Monrovia Indiana, Shoplifters, Stan and Ollie.

The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth also host a number of film festivals from Anime films, LGBTQ and more.

Discounted tickets for Museum members and Reel People. The Sunday noon screening is half-price.

TCU International Services host foreign films every Wednesday at 6:30 PM during the school year. Kinomonda World Cinema includes free food and discussion about the film. It is open to the public. Follow their Facebook page for current updates on film screenings. Make sure to arrive early, food is “while it lasts”. The cuisine is based on the country of origin or subject of the foreign film.
